Compare the deliverables
Check the number and purpose of pages, content responsibilities and required functionality. A template setup with supplied content differs from a custom information structure and new copy. Ask what is included in review rounds, mobile layouts and migration from the existing website.
Look for ownership details
Confirm who will own the domain, hosting account, website files and any licensed assets. Understand what can be transferred later and what depends on a subscription. These details affect the long-term usefulness of the website as much as its launch appearance.
Separate launch from support
Ask how defects discovered after launch are handled and what ongoing maintenance includes. Content updates, security work and new features are different tasks. A support fee should describe its scope rather than simply promise that everything is covered.
Use a comparison sheet
Write the same requirements beside each proposal and mark confirmed, excluded or unclear. Send specific questions for unclear items. Choose based on the fit between the proposal and your actual needs, not a long feature list that your business will not use.
